Yong QIU is Managing Director and founder of Three Oaks Aviation Consultancy Ltd. & Three Oaks Capital Ltd. with 20 years’ experience in civil aviation industry in China and Europe (UK). Before migrating to UK, he worked with China Southern Airlines for 8 years in a variety of departments, including Flight Operation, Maintenance & Engineering Department and President Office. He contributed to China Southern Airlines and China’s aviation industry in the tenure with his various in-depth internal reports and published analyses about airline strategy, deregulation, Chinese aviation sector’s reform, air safety, human factors and financial management. After graduating from Cranfield University in September 2004, where he was awarded easyJet Leadership & Initiative Prize, he joined Aircraft Commerce and then Aviation Industry Group. The published reports he contributed to the two companies covered the areas of aircraft financing, fleet planning, airline revenue management, cargo business and China’s aviation business. He is author of Financing China's Airport Expansion, an in-depth report about Chinese airports’ capacity, management, air traffic control, air safety, financing sources and financial assessments. At Three Oak Aviation Consultancy Ltd, his consultancy work for Chinese airlines, financial institutions and other clients includes aircraft financing & leasing, airport financing, airline evaluation, China’s aviation policy and regulation, aircraft manufacturing, air safety, aircraft maintenance, pilot recruitment and training. He has conducted research into air safety, in particular runway safety, at airports worldwide to market engineered material arresting system (EMAS) which is used to prevent aircraft overrunning. Yong Qiu has been leading a team of senior experts in advising AVIC, COMAC and AVIC Commercial Aircraft Engine Ltd. , respectively, in aircraft sales, aircraft/engine customer services business since 2009. Yong Qiu served as a senior aviation expert in evaluating EU-China Civil Aviation Programme (BuildingInstitutional Capability) in 2013 and 2014, respectively, and in evaluating EU-ASEAN Air Transport Integration Programme in 2015.Yong Qiu was invited by Cranfield University and various commercial organisations to give lectures or presentations on aircraft financing, aircraft customer services and other aerospace manufacturing subjects.
After a career in the railway industry in the United Kingdom, Paul joined the fledgling Airbus in Toulouse in 1984. He provided analytical support to aircraft sales campaigns in Europe, Africa, Australasia and China. He established the Airbus Marketing Development and Training Department and created the Airbus Air Transport Seminar, which he ran on almost 80 occasions for 2,000 senior airline managers in locations on every continent. In 2003 he established and became the first Managing Director of AirBusiness Academy, an Airbus subsidiary in Toulouse. Following a move to Montreal, Canada, in 2007 Paul spent two years leading IATA’s global training organisation, and from 2010 to 2012 he directed the new Al Ain International Aviation Academy in the United Arab Emirates. As Managing Director of Through The Looking Glass, he offers consulting and educational programmes in the fields of airline strategy and fleet planning. He is the creator of , the airline business simulation game. He holds a Master of Science degree in Transportation Planning and Management from the University of Westminster and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He has held the position of Visiting Professor at Cranfield University and City, University of London, in the United Kingdom. He currently teaches postgraduate aviation modules at City, University of London, and the University of Surrey. Paul has acted as ‘senior consultant’ for IATA Consulting on fleet renewal projects where airlines need advice on fleet planning procedures and processes. Paul is the author of Buying The Big Jets, the standard textbook on airline fleet planning, now in its Third Edition. Languages: English and spoken French.
Jiawen Kang is a Full Professor at Guangdong University of Technology. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Guangdong University of Technology, China in 2018. He has been a postdoc at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 2018 to 2021. He was the visiting scholar at Princeton University and University of Waterloo. His research interests mainly focus on blockchain, metaverse, machine learning, and security and privacy protection, etc. He has published more than 100 research papers in leading journals (e.g., JSAC, TWC, TII, TITS, IoTj) and flagship conferences including 10 ESI highly cited papers and 3 ESI hot papers. The total number of google citations of these papers is more than 6200. He is the co-inventor of 15 granted patents and has won 2019 IEEE VTS Best Paper Award 2019, 2021 IEEE Communications Society CSIM Technical Committee Best Journal Paper Award, 2022 IEEE Best Land Transportation Paper Award and 10 best paper awards of international conferences (including IEEE WCNC、IEEE IWCMC、IEEE Blockchain、IEEE CPSCom、AAAI Workshop、EAI 6GN、ACM DroneCom、IEEE CSCloud、EAI Qshine and IEEE Scalcom) as well. He is listed in the World’s Top 2% Scientists identified by Stanford University from 2019 to 2022. He is now serving as the editors or guest editors for more than 10 leading journals including IEEE JSAC, TNSE, ISJ, IET Communication and IEEE Networking Letter. He has also severed as the Co-chair of IEEE EUC, ICC Workshop, WCNC Workshop, ICDCS Workshop, Globcom 2021 Workshop, and HPCC Workshop, etc.
James had been in finance industry for some three decades covering the whole gamut of corporate, commercial and investment banking, capital markets and private equity fund raising. He has worked for several international financial institutions, including Barclays, Amsterdam-Rotterdam, Toronto-Dominion, First Chicago, Continental and his last banking appointment was Global Head of Capital Markets and Syndications at Overseas Union Bank in Singapore. In his banking career, he has been involved in several financings of infrastructure projects (such as power plants, under-sea cables, toll roads and gas pipelines) in Indonesia, China and Australia. James had also been for two years until May 2006 the general manager of the investment subsidiary of the Changi Airport Group, owner and operator of Changi International Airport. As general manager, he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the investment company which focuses on investing in airports globally and providing airport operation consultancy services, in particular to airports in China, India, Russia and the Middle East. From August 2006 to end 2008, James was an independent advisor with the Asian Transportation Group of HSH Nordbank, Hamburg assisting HSH Nordbank in originating and executing the financing of infrastructure projects in the Asia Pacific, particularly in airports, port terminals and toll roads, working closely with international agencies like the Asian Development Bank and the International Finance Corporation, a unit of the World Bank. Between March 2016 to October 2017 James had been engaged as a advisor/consultant to the Glory Fund Group, and concurrently was vice chairman of capital markets for the group’s affiliate, Global Capital Asia Pte Limited, assisting in corporate finance consultancy and private equity activities in the infrastructure sector and the intended listing of a hotel hospitality REIT with the Greenland Group of China on SGX. Project however did not take off. James holds a post-graduate diploma in management studies from the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago and a post-graduate diploma in financial management from the Stern School of Business Administration, New York University. He also holds an executive diploma in directorship jointly awarded by the Singapore Institute of Directors and the Singapore Management University, the first professional qualification of its kind in Singapore. Currently, James sits on the board of Asiatic Group Ltd. as an Independent Director. Listed on the main board of the SGX-ST, the Asiatic Group is involved in the design, manufacturing and marketing of products and equipment that are related to fire-fighting and fire-prevention purposes. From July 2013 and until February 2020, James sat on the board of USP Group Ltd as the Lead Independent Director. Listed on the main board of the SGX-ST, USP Group is engaged in three key businesses: biofuel production, ad hoc property development and the distributorship of a worldwide leader in outboard motors. James was chairman of the nomination and the remuneration committees. He was also an Independent Non-Executive Director of China Essence Group Ltd., listed on the SGX-ST mainboard. The company was voluntarily suspended in July 2015 on the grounds of insolvency and was delisted by SGX-ST on 14 February 2020. Until May 2016, he was a Non-Executive Independent Director of Link Energy Ltd, a Brisbane-based owner of oil and gas assets in Australia and the USA, which was previously listed on the SGX-ST and OCTQX (USA). James chaired the Remuneration and Nominating Committees and was a member of the Audit Committee. From April 2012 to March 2016, James was a Non-Executive Independent Director of Anhua Clean Energy PLC, a China-based solar water heater manufacturer listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), London.
Mr Jing Wang is Vice President, Business Development, of Three Oaks Technologies Limited. Mr Wang holds a Master Degree in computer software engineering from Ji Lin University. His careers span from software developing, teaching in a university and asset management. Mr Wang is responsible for developing business in China.
